Pop the bubbly because it’s our 10th anniversary!!

It’s been so fun to reflect on the past 10 years and to see how far Everyday Nutrition, LLC has come. We are rounding out the last quarter of our most successful year to date and I think this is just the beginning of helping even more people tackle their health goals through nutrition and lifestyle. I thought I would walk you through some of the highlights of the past 10 years.

In the spring of 2011 my husband and I were fairly new transplants to the Columbus, Ohio area where we welcomed our second child. I was working part-time at a dialysis center where I met another dietitian who basically told me I was wasting my talent and should consider private practice. At the time I had ZERO experience with how to start a practice, where I would see clients, or how to accept payment but I was intrigued at the thought. I was blessed to be introduced to a group of nutrition entrepreneurs and their mentorship helped me launch Everyday Nutrition. The paperwork was signed and official on October 22, 2011!

I was connected with a family practice clinic that happened to be in the same building as the dialysis center so I began working 3 hours one evening/week which eventually expanded to that evening + one half day. I was successfully contracted with insurance companies and learned how to submit claims. I even hired my first contracted employee during this time. The feeling of accomplishment was huge as I learned to navigate a completely new environment of practice. I’m still so grateful for all of the people who helped me and to those first clients who gave me confidence.

The practice was just starting to gain momentum for growth when we moved in 2013 to the Denver, Colorado area. I was pregnant with our 3rd child but looked into how to move the business. Unfortunately, as an insurance-based practice, it was much more difficult to transition than I expected and decided to pursue other opportunities. It was during one of these jobs in 2017 that my desire to make something of Everyday Nutrition in Colorado was reignited and it’s been since January of 2018 that I can say the practice has gotten my full professional attention.

In June of 2019 I hired Victoria as I prepared to have my fifth child. I was discerning whether to let the practice go by the wayside or keep the momentum going with the growth I was experiencing by hiring a contract employee again. I think the decision to continue momentum had a huge impact on where we are today and I have Victoria to thank for taking care of my established clients, taking on new clients with excitement, and staying on to help me grow when I returned from maternity leave. I’m so grateful I had that time with our fifth baby and still had a practice to come back to.

In the spring of this year, 2021, Everyday Nutrition was growing at a pace that I personally couldn’t keep up with; Victoria had taken a full time job elsewhere and I am constantly trying to balance family and work life. I do not think it’s a coincidence that Ashlen reached out in February, feeling like the practice would be a good fit for her as she looked to move to the area. Then my former intern, Erica, passed her RD exam and was ready to work so I brought her on. Since June of 2018 (when I started consistently tracking clients), we’ve met with over 550 clients, many of whom we continue to meet with regularly. I have several clients who have continued seeing me regularly since 2018.

Since focusing on PCOS in 2019 I have helped over 50 women manage their hormones and since the fall of 2020, 50% of my clients with infertility are expecting or have already delivered babies. In the past 9 months not only has the Everyday Nutrition team doubled, we’ve expanded to offering an online PCOS program, The PCOS Balance Method, and personal training. We are getting consistent referrals from area clinics and our current clients; to me, the latter is the greatest compliment!

There are too many people to personally thank, but if you were a mentor, colleague, or have been a personal client of mine or the practice, I appreciate you beyond the written word. To my mom, husband, and kids, Everyday Nutrition wouldn’t be where it is without your support.

The best is yet to come!
